In short

Your full journal stays on your phone. Only what the social features need is online: your public profile, your sessions from the last 30 days (except the ones you hide), your friends, likes, and comments. RNDS doesn’t sell your data, doesn’t show ads, and doesn’t use any advertising tracking tools.

Data stored on your phone

First name, discipline, level, chosen gym, sessions (date, rounds, durations, type, feel, optional photo), and settings. You can export or delete them anytime in Settings › Data.

Apple Health

With your permission, RNDS logs your sessions in Health as workouts (with heart rate, calories, and the route of your runs), along with nights tracked without a watch, your meals, water, and weight. RNDS reads your heart rate, calories, steps, distance, sleep, weight, and date of birth (to estimate your maximum heart rate) from Health to show them in the app.

This data stays on your phone: it’s never sold or used for advertising. The only exception, if you choose: if you turn on “Heart rate and calories on my posts” (Settings › Profile, off by default), the average and maximum heart rate, calories, and steps of your posted sessions are visible to people who follow you. You manage access in Settings › Health › App Access.

Apple Watch and sensors

The Watch app measures your heart rate and calories during your session and sends them to your iPhone. Bluetooth sensors (Whoop, Polar, Garmin…) send your heart rate directly to your iPhone, without going through our servers.

Location

Your GPS position is only used during a run, including when the screen is locked, to measure your distance, pace, and route. The route stays on your phone and in Health: it’s never sent to our servers.

When you search for a gym and location access is already allowed, an approximate position (an area of about 30 km) is sent to Apple Maps to suggest nearby gyms. Only the city you type and the country you choose (or your phone’s) appear on your profile.

Photos

Your profile photo and the photo of a posted session are uploaded so they can be seen in the feed. A hidden session keeps its photo on your phone. RNDS requests write access to your photo library only to save your story cards there.

Instagram sharing

When you share a story, the image is sent to Instagram via your phone. Its handling then falls under Instagram’s privacy policy.

Online account and feed

Your account is created at sign-up with your email address, confirmed with a code (no password), or with Apple. It is used to reserve your username, make the social features work, and get your account back on a new iPhone. Your email is never shown to other members or used for advertising; RNDS may use it to contact you about your account. The following are public: username, first name, bio, discipline, level, gym, city, country, profile photo, stats (rounds, streak, record), recent sessions that aren’t hidden (rounds, duration, distance, feel, and heart rate only if you chose to share it), friends, likes, and comments.

This data is hosted by Supabase and deleted along with your account (Settings › Data › Delete my account). Unused accounts without a username are erased after 30 days.

Sign in with Apple

If you choose Apple, RNDS receives an identifier provided by Apple and the email address you choose to share (you can hide it: Apple then creates a relay address). RNDS never receives your password. It is used to get your account back on a new iPhone. The link is deleted with your account, and RNDS’s access is then revoked with Apple.

Reporting and blocking

When you report content, the RNDS team receives the reported content and the reason you chose. People you block can no longer see your posts.
